Biology Summer Reading Assignment

The end of our 2017-2018 school year is quickly upon us! We are aware that you are making plans for the summer. However, we have come together as a Science Department and in efforts to help your child be better prepared for Biology next school year we are assigning a Summer Project. As teachers, we know that knowledge is better perceived by the student when there is a background or a foundation in place about the subject itself.

This assignment offers a great opportunity for your child to build a foundation that will promote success in the rigorous lessons taught in Biology. This also offers your child a continuous educational opportunity to learn something new and exciting about Biology over the summer. The students will practice skills they have obtained all across the curricula in the previous year.

The Science department is providing your child a book, Texas Science Fusion, which is structured around the Texas Essential Knowledge Skills (TEKS) for grade seven Life Sciences. The assigned lessons aim to enrich your child with a background in Cells & Heredity.

Please ensure that your child completes these lessons prior to the start of classes for the upcoming school year.  Your child will be required to submit the assignments the first day of school and will be their first grade in their Project/Test category.  The assignment follows below.

Thank you for your support.
